Dr Brown read Medicine at Sheffield University qualifying in 1992. Her medical interests are Women's Health, Cardiovascular Disease and Health Promotion. Dr Brown is a GP Trainer and a Programme Director for Banbury GP Training Scheme.

Dr Darker read Medicine at Newcastle upon Tyne University qualifying in 2003. Dr Darker is a GP Trainer. Her medical interests include Diabetes, Women's Health, Children's Health, Minor Surgery and Palliative Care.

Nurses

The practice nurses work in the treatment room and are available for consultation Monday to Friday 08:45 - 10:30 and 16:00 - 18:00 without appointment. They are also available in the afternoon by appointment only: • Monday 14:00 - 15:50 • Tuesday 15:00 - 15:50 • Wednesday 15:00 - 15:50 • Thursday 15:00 - 15:50 • Friday 15:00 - 15:50 These should be booked through reception in the normal way. They provide general nursing care including blood tests, dressings, ear syringing, immunisation, cervical smears, Rubella screening, diabetic, asthma and blood pressure monitoring. They provide advice on minor illness, diet, weight control, foot care and general lifestyle. They also provide travel advice on disease prevention and full prophylactic immunisation as well as child immunisations. They also run Diabetes and Respiratory clinics.

Healthcare Assistants

Our Healthcare Assistant is available for phlebotomy services during morning surgery Monday to Friday. Our Healthcare Assistant also carries out New Patient Health Checks and Health Checks for patients 40-74 years old who have no history of heart disease or diabetes. These checks are pre-bookable appointments on Monday to Friday afternoons 15:00 – 16:50 and on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 08:10.

Practice Management

The practice manager is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.

Reception

Email: wychwood.reception@nhs.net Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.

Community Midwives

TORY CORNER

The midwife is attached to the practice but based at Chipping Norton Hospital. The midwives at Chipping Norton Hospital share the care of our patients with the doctor. They attend the antenatal clinic at Wychwood Surgery on Monday between 13:30 and 17:15, with special booking appointments after 15:00 and visit mothers at home after delivery. The midwife can be contacted at Chipping Norton Hospital on 01608 697930.

Health Visitors

Our health visitor is a nurse who specialises in preventative medicine and health education for mothers and children. In the course of her work she sees families in their homes or in the surgery and she runs the child health clinics and arranges child immunisation programmes. The health visitor carries out vision, hearing and developmental screening for the under fives, advises on all aspects of health and social problems and is able to link with other services. Patients requiring parentcraft classes should contact her. The health visitors can be contacted 01865 903937.
