Community Midwives

Mrs Tory Corner

The midwife is attached to the practice but based at Chipping Norton Hospital. The midwives at Chipping Norton Hospital share the care of our patients with the doctor.

They attend the antenatal clinic at Wychwood Surgery on Monday between 13:30 and 17:15, with special booking appointments after 15:00 and visit mothers at home after delivery. The midwife can be contacted at Chipping Norton Hospital on 01608 697930.

Tory is on maternity leave until January 2019 and her cover at the surgery is being provided by Stevie Holford

Community Nurses

The Wychwood District Nursing Team visit patients at home who cannot attend the surgery for their nursing treatments, assessing needs and providing appropriate care and advice, and liaising with allied support services as required.

The team can be contacted on 01993 830505 which switches to voicemail when the nurses are out of the surgery. The voicemail is checked by the nurses regularly throughout the day up to 16:30. The service currently covers the hours between 08:00 and 16:30 each day. There is no twilight or night facility.

From time to time a 'Degree in Adult Nursing' student will undertake their community placement attached to the Wychwood Surgery. These nurses will be seeing patients and will be supervised by qualified staff and/or a GP at all times.

Health Visitors

Mrs Hannah Banks

Our health visitor is a nurse who specialises in preventative medicine and health education for mothers and children. In the course of her work she sees families in their homes or in the surgery and she runs the child health clinics and arranges child immunisation programmes.

The health visitor carries out vision, hearing and developmental screening for the under fives, advises on all aspects of health and social problems and is able to link with other services. Patients requiring parentcraft classes should contact her. The health visitor can be contacted 01993 831614 and she has a voicemail facility for when she is out of the office. If you need to contact her urgently please leave a message with the receptionists. From time to time the health visitor will have a health visitor student; these will be qualified nurses who are gaining their health visitor qualification. These nurses will be involved in patient care and will be under qualified supervision at all times.
